Like any manufacturing plant, here at the Story Factory, we value quantity over quality.
More words, more hours, more stories. The goal is 52 stories at the end of the year. Wednesdays, we will report production and celebrate the little victories.
Wednesday 6/30/2021 Production Report:
Words through 6/30/21 – 189,353
Hours through 6/30/21 – 779
Stories 20 out of 52 (this may not change anymore)
(That includes Morning pages each day, prewriting on either the week’s story or the novel that I am re-writing, and this blog. I only count the short story once, so there is the total for that, and I don’t count the blog on Story Sunday.)
Now that I have decided that I prefer longer-form fiction, at least for writing, I can procrastinate with even more success! Seriously, I am going to write the first draft of a novel, and the goal is 70K words by October 1. That is about 625 a day if I write daily. And that is the plan. I will handwrite in the mornings and then if there is time in the evenings, put it in scrivener. Mary Adkins suggests using notebooks and only writing on one side, leaving the opposite side for notes while editing/typing later, so I will give that a try.
